Anchor Lodge Residential Home has a good activities program designed to keep our residents entertained and mentally stimulated. Activities can range from a variety of games to celebrating special occasions. The program also provides residents with supplies for hobbies of their choice. This includes puzzles, crochet, knitting supplies, DVD player and movies, computer with free access to WiFi, and pet therapy.
Our social activities allow residents to interact with others, volunteers and school children, share occasions, and most importantly – enjoy life in our home. Throughout the year, we organise parties and special activities to bring residents and their families together for fun, food, and great conversation.
Arthritis, loss of mobility and cognitive function, or illnesses such as dementia can set limitations on certain types of activities for older people. But we will try our best to engage and try to suit our activities to our resident’s capabilities.
We also encourage resident to have an active role in our household. To do as much or as little as they wish, from helping prepare a meal, helping with laundry or tending a flower bed or even looking after their own pet. Because we are small and not like an institution, we will ensure you get an opportunity to participate however you are able to.

At Anchor Lodge, we are passionate about food and are pride ourselves on providing fresh, nutritious and delicious meals to all our residents. We do not buy in ready meals. Our in-house cooks prepare gorgeous home cooked lunches, desserts and cakes.
We offer a variety of delicious options for each meal we serve. A well-prepared and thoughtful meal is central to having a good day and improving personal health. That is why we strive to make every meal at our home one of the best. Our menu changes monthly, but we have a staple of choices to accommodate all appetites.
Accommodating for special diets, if dietary restrictions are part of your plan of care, our staff will work with our cook to prepare your meals according to your requirements.
We are aware of most dietery requirements including diabetic, vegetarian, kosher and halal and can cook for you individually according to your requirements. We would cook your meals using separate utensils to ensure religious, allergy and/or vegetarian requirements were met.

At Anchor Lodge Residential Home, we never forget that each person in our care is an individual. Here, our staff not only try to meet physical needs, but also try to acknowledge and enhance each residents’s spiritual and emotional well-being. We recognize many of our residents may have had a life where they were active in religious practice. Bearing this in mind, we foster an environment where you can express your spirituality and maintain in your faith journey.
We can help residents access church and worship services, as well as have links with local churches and chaplains who can minister to your personal and spiritual needs. Some of our staff attend church themselves and are happy to do bible study as an activity with you. We can also arrange transport to go to church for services as and when you require.
We have celebrations for all the religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas and can help you observe Lent etc. We also have some church volunteers and school children attending to sing hymns and carols for the benefit of our residents.
We also have staff who have an understanding of Muslim residents' requirements. We can make special provision for diet, for prayers, and for things you require that would make a comfortable setting. Residential care is a complex issue for those Muslims who try to observe their faith; it is very important for them, to the extent possible, to be able to continue a lifestyle that follows the tenets of Islam even when they become old and frail.
We would ensure your room is equipped for Wudhu and Salat and you would be assigned a trained key worker to help you observe your religious requirements. We would cook your food separately using dedicated utensils and make sure that your meals are Halal. We would also be able to ensure that you are only provided personal care from either a male or female member of staff according to your requirement.
From an activities point of view there will be a monthly Imam for residents who would like a visit to provide support and education.
